We spent this past week/weekend in Twin Lakes, WI for our anual trip to Country Thunder, a music festival with some great country acts. Its the anual trip with a group of great friends...5 days and nights camping in a field, lots of country music, HOT weather and a lot of fun times. We spent a lot of time at the beach this year (just down the road from the campsite) since the weather was HOT and very HUMID! The lake water was very enjoyable every afternoon.
Friday night we celebrated Kristen's birthday by going out for a fish fry at a local place (oddly the same place we celebrated last year!) The local band playing at the resturaunt/bar that night also sang her a couple birthday tunes and we toasted her a quick shot before heading back to the campsite/festival for the night. The lineup was great too....such as Dierks Bently, Sugarland, Talyor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Sarah Evans, Joe Nichols, Chasin' Mason, Miranda Lambert, Emmerson Drive, Halfway to Hazard, and Jessica Simpson. I have to say though, dispite it being her "first country concert" Jessica Simpson was NOT impressive at ALL! (sorry to those who like her).
Most of the time spent not at concerts was back at the campsite playing yard games, enjoying some adult beverages :) and just hanging out with friends and neighbors. I got lots of mosquito bites, as usual anytime im outside in the summer. I think we all managed to come home without sunburns however, which is impressive when there is no indoors or shelter from the sun for the 5 days. As you can see from the pictures also, Friday night we got POURED ON, we got over 4 inches of rain we were told, and you could tell by the looks of the campsite. Some people woke up literally underwater in their tents....bummer! We were lucky though to be on a bit of higher ground...everything we left out was pretty soaked when we woke up Saturday morning though. The rest of the weekend everything was incredibly muddy too, made life a little messier! Thanks Dad for the tent/canopy, it made the week much easier than in the past!
Well I'm back just for tonight, then its off to VEGAS with my mom, cousins, sister and aunt for my sister's 21st birthday trip! I can't wait! Have a great week everyone!
