Camping

We spent a long 4 day weekend up north camping this past week. We were at Crystal Lake Campground, about a half hour north of Minocqua. It was quite a hike to get up there, but very well worth the drive! Our campsite was well wooded so slightly secluded, we had a private trail to the nice sandy beach of the lake we were right on. As you can see by the pics in the album, we found the perfect spot along that trail at the edge of our campsite to hang our hammock to watch the sunsets over the water....sunsets of course, not sunrises :) We couldn't have asked for better weather, the days were mid 70's and sunny, the nights down to the 50's and clear. The stars and bright shining moon were awesome in the complete darkness there.

We spent a lot of time doing many fun things in the outdoors. We biked a REALLY long bike trail that took us almost 30 miles from end to end. We went swimming in the lake in front of our campsite, although the water was a little cold it certainly was refreshing. We went hiking around other lakes and bogs that are near Crystal Lake. We took some nice night time walks around the campground and of course had a campfire going most of the time we were in the site. Spending time in the hammock I think was one of my favorite times by far however.

Jason taugh me how to set up the camper and a bunch of other things that this "cabin girl" didn't learn growing up, haha! We cooked everything over the fire, and of course enjoyed some of the camping favorites of s'mores, porgies, and brats with sweet corn! I was impressed too when Jason made pancakes one morning and eggs another!

Saturday night, friends of ours that live near where we were camping came over with their two little girls for dinner and a fire. We had a fun time with them on the beach, catching up, and of course making s'mores with the girls. Here's a pic of the two girls in the hammock, aren't they adorable!
We also discovered that I am a little....ok a lot....skiddish in the outdoors at night....and kinda a wimp when it coms to the woods up there. The noises at night made me a little jumpy, but I had a really great time! Despite the black bear spotting the evening of our last night there, I did get some sleep since the camper was so comfy!
